Mr. Ozmon is a Past President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, a Governor from Illinois to the American Trial Lawyers Association, a Past Assemblyman to the Illinois State Bar Association, an inducted member of the Society of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates, as well as being recognized as a Leading American Attorney and as one of the top 5% of all lawyers by the Leading Lawyers Network.

Laird Ozmon, was elected to the executive committee of the American Association for Justice, formerly known as the American Trail Lawyers Association. Mr. Ozmon was one of five elected by it's board to sit on the organization's executive committee along with it's officers.

In December, 2005, Mr. Ozmon was appointed by Judtice Thomas Kilbride to the Illinois Supeme Court Committee on Jury Instructions in Civil Cases. He will represent  the 3rd Judicial District on the 21-member Committee. His term runs for nine years.

Mr. Ozmon has been asked to speak on a multitude of legal topics over his career, has co-authored the chapter "Trial Tactics in Medical Malpractice", for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education and has been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Committee for Jury Instructions in Civil Cases.

Leading American Attorneys
American Research Corporation conducts extensive, ongoing research on attorneys throughout Illinois to determine the leading practitioners on each area of law. Thousands of Illinois attorneys were asked to whom they would recommend a friend or family member in need of legal services. The result is a limited number of peer-selected Leading American Attorneys in Illinois recognized for their abilities in specific areas of practice.

The Leading Lawyers Network is the result of thousands of contacts with Illinois lawyers asking them which of their peers they believe comprise the top lawyers. Only those lawyers who are most often recommended qualify as Leading Lawyers.

Laird M. Ozmon was recommended as a Leading Lawyer in a statewide survey of more than 50,000 lawyers. Fewer than 5% of the lawyers in any state receive the distinction of being a Leading Lawyer.
